HOW WE WORK
Teens Fighting Hunger raises money primarily by selling high quality products created/provided by its teen volunteers (HungerFighters). Arts and crafts form the cornerstone of our efforts though the possibilities for other money-generating products and activities [link here to volunteer area] are endless. We also work closely with schools, helping conduct class projects and activities that not only raise funds but promote hunger education and individual involvement & growth as well.
Teens Fighting Hunger is actively seeking sponsors (large and small employers, foundations and individuals) to provide matching funds such that every dollar raised becomes so much more (double, triple or even more). Each year, proceeds from product sales will be combined with donations and disbursed to local hunger-relief organizations. The initial recipient of TFH funds will be the Oregon Food Bank, a U.S. leader in hunger relief and an expert in the areas of leveraged procurement and precise, cost-effective distribution.
The low price point of the current products ($2 - $30) further allows customers the opportunity to donate incremental dollars.
WHERE WE SELL
Initially, products will be sold in outdoor markets, local business offices, in-home gatherings, and targeted retail locations. While Teens Fighting Hunger was founded in Oregon and initial sales activity will be based there, we expect that satellite units will develop in other upper-middle class communities across the United States by mid-2008.
We are currently investigating a more robust (automated) online store. In the meantime, please visit our current store/catalog page where you can view many of our products and place orders via e-mail. In many cases we’ll even do custom work.
WHO WE HELP
Proceeds raised from product sales as well as outright donations will go to local hunger relief organizations. Teens Fighting Hunger was founded in Oregon and all proceeds raised there will go to the Oregon Food Bank, a leader in hunger-relief throughout the nation.
