Our Mission

Teens Fighting Hunger is a non-profit organization as defined by 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Founded in 2007 in Lake Oswego, Oregon, our mission is threefold:

1. to provide relief - throughout the year - to the 12.6 million hungry children in the United States;

2. to promote youth involvement and empower teenagers to use their skills, talents, creativity and energy in such ways that they develop both the pleasure and habit of giving back and making a positive difference in the lives of others; and

3. to raise awareness about the hunger problem in America in order to create a continuous stream of hunger relief.

Teens Fighting Hunger recently gave another generous donation in the amount of $5,000 to Oregon Food Bank (OFB). This is in addition to the $10,000 given this past March. With food prices rising and the economy in flux, requests for emergency food assistance are on the rise (requests from some areas of Oregon have grown by 20 to 30% according to OBB Executive Director, Rachel Bristol).

Teens Fighting Hunger had a successful summer working at the Farmers' Market in Lake Oswego and all the hard-working volunteers are very excited to be able to make this additional contribution to OFB. Teens Fighting Hunger thanks all donors, sponsors and purchasers for their support and generosity toward such a needy cause.

Happy Holidays!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"Most of our citizenry believes that hunger only affects people who are lazy or people who are just looking for a handout, people who dont' want to work, but, sadly, that is not true. Over one-third of our hungry people are innocent children who are members of households that simply cannot provide enough food or proper nutrition. And to think of the elderly suffering from malnutrition is just too hard for most of us. Unlike Third World nations, in our country the problem is not having too little – it is about not caring enough!"
