NEWS AND EVENTS

The forth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, organized by the Lake Oswego High School Hunger Fighter Club and ceramics classes, will be held on Wednesday, March 3rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Empty Bowls is a nationally recognized charitable initiative that enables the raising of money to feed the hungry in local communities. All Mr. Steve Schiefelbein’s ceramics classes will create pottery bowls that will be used to serve a simple meal of soup, bread and cookies prepared by student volunteers.

Attendees will enjoy the meal and keep their bowl as a reminder of the problem of domestic hunger. All funds raised at the event will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Teens Fighting Hunger, who will also be selling their handmade products throughout the evening. This means that each $10 ticket purchased will result in $20 to benefit Portland-based Transitional Youth (www.transitionalyouth.org).  By attending, you will help TY pay for the 14,000 meals they expect to serve to homeless youths this year.

While tickets will be sold at the door, seating is limited. Advanced tickets may be purchased in person at the LOHS business office (during the hours of 8:30 to 3:30), located at 2501 Country Club Rd. Lake Oswego, OR 97034.
